VIDEO: Short video about the news in IDEA StatiCa 26.1
IDEA StatiCa 26.1 is out, with new features for steel and concrete design, automation and BIM workflows.
Our technical team at Construsoft Nordics has picked some developments we find particularly interesting.
API, AI and Grasshopper: More opportunities for automation
IDEA StatiCa 26.1 expands the Connection API, allowing engineers to create, modify and calculate complete connections through code.
The Grasshopper plugin makes it possible to build and analyze connections directly within Rhino and Grasshopper.
Combined with AI-assisted coding, these improvements make automation more accessible, even for engineers with limited programming experience.
Repetitive connection designs, parametric templates and batch calculations are obvious areas where this can save time.

Checkbot: Bringing CAD and FEA models together
The new Model Coordinator (BETA) allows engineers to import CAD and FEA models of the same structure, automatically match members and transfer internal forces to connections.
This reduces manual data transfer and makes better use of the information already available in existing models. This may be particularly useful for projects involving many connections.
The release also includes faster BIM imports and improvements to several existing integrations.

What’s new in IDEA StatiCa 26.1
Stability: More advanced analysis of steel structures
The new Stability app combines connection design and structural stability analysis, accounting for actual connection stiffness, boundary conditions and geometric imperfections.
With linear buckling analysis (LBA) and advanced nonlinear analysis (GMNIA), engineers can investigate buckling behavior and structural resistance in members and substructures where simplified buckling-length assumptions may be insufficient.

Anchoring: An increasingly complete design solution
Anchoring design in IDEA StatiCa Detail 3D continues to improve. Version 26.1 introduces more flexible reinforcement modeling, reusable reinforcement templates and detailed equation-based anchor checks.
Reports now also include a complete bill of materials with reinforcement quantities and dimensions.
Together, these improvements make IDEA StatiCa a more comprehensive solution for steel-to-concrete connections, including complex geometries and reinforced concrete anchoring details.
